Wind Farms
Arguably the most suitable region for wind energy power generation in Europe, the UK in general and Scotland in particular which produced 97.4% of its electricity needs in 2020, have built an enviable reputation for wind farms by any metric, number of projects, wind farms size, number of owners and operators, and financial viability.
By the same token, the proximity of Europe’s largest financial centers and the availability of world class engineering knowhow derived from linked industries have led to an almost overnight success for investors and developers alike. In this context, in what is widely considered to be the wind capital of Europe, an operating Wind farm backed by a robust production track record, and time tested Government legislation presents a unique and extremely attractive direct investment opportunity with a high annuity based approaching double digit returns.
Since 2010 Development Vectors have advised and assisted in over
40 developments, procuring consented wind sites and developing small and medium wind installations, bringing developers, operators, and other stakeholders together for optimised Feed-in Tariff and market oriented generation projects, with the best possible operational and financial outcomes for investors. We are constantly looking for wind farm development opportunities and the acquisition of existing operating wind assets for the account of our institutional and private investors.
Solar Farms
Development Vectors has been focusing on the EU and the UK, and more recently on Middle-Eastern solar markets with developments from 5MW to 100MW solar farms working with local partners and applying tried and tested development and funding processes, ensuring optimum yields and financial returns.
The vision and skills at play in developing distributed small and medium solar farms to larger utility scale generation differ greatly and so does the appeal to various types of investors, energy fund aggregators and national power companies.
With time tested core skills in acquisitions and disposals, Development Vectors plays a crucial role in identifying procuring and fulfilling the potential, needs and requirements of various situations, from consolidating widely distributed small to medium size installations for the account of aggregators, family office and institutional direct investors, to large scale solar farm investment funds, ETFs, local and national energy companies.
Whether proactively developing a divestment or an acquisition, our starting point is a broad assessment of economic, financial, technical and social impacts with a general appraisal of needs, requirements, and performance indicators which help us narrow down and refine our focus to precise development, acquisition and sale opportunities that match your requirements as closely as possible.
We then structure and optimise acquisition and sale transactions, frequently adding value from unsuspected or neglected resources, ensuring best fit, boosting performance and financial yields to safeguard long-term investment in an increasingly energy-hungry World.
Battery Storage
Unlike energy derived from fossil fuels which is generally available on demand, the transition to renewable energy has created new challenges primarily because of the wind farms generation intermittency and the lack of night-time capacity in the case of Solar PV installations.
This has prompted the development of large utility scale battery storage installations to feed and stabilise the National Grid Balancing Mechanism including fast response reserve, frequency stabilization and voltage control, demand management by peak shaving, and load levelling. The Capacity Market which on the other hand ensures continuity of supply includes variable and intermittent renewable energy integration and emergency backup power afforded by different technologies such as pumped hydro storage.
Recognising the strategic importance of energy supply and security, Development Vectors has been very active in the sector, advising developers over the past 4 years for securing sites and grid connections suitable for the installation of 50MW battery storage units and providing general guidance and advice regarding the technology, funding and development matters for investment grade battery storage units that would allow the mobilisation of private capital finance. Equally we have been very active raising capital for green field pumped storage hydro storage projects which require 6-8 years of study, planning and engineering periods on average.
